Update - January 19, 2015

REPORT CARDS
2nd Quarter Report Cards were sent home this past week in Friday Folders.  Please take time to go over your child's report card and discuss it with your child.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

We have set the 3rd Quarter behavior goal.  For the 3rd Quarter, students may not miss more that 2 Freaky Fridays -- that means they can have no more than 2 missing or late assignments.   We have noticed several students had difficulty getting back in the habit of homework after winter break.  We ask that you please work with your child to assist him/her in organizing and scheduling homework time.

TESTING UPDATE
Dates have been set for the 4th grade PARCC Performance Based Assessments (PBA).  4th graders will be tested the following dates:
Tuesday, March 3 - Language Arts Part 1
Thursday, March 5 - Language Arts Part 2
Monday, March 9 - Social Studies
Wednesday, March 11 - Language Arts Part 3
Friday, March 13 - Math Part 1

Each test will begin first thing in the morning and will last 60-90 minutes (time varies by the test).  It is very important that students arrive at school on time.
Reminder: No pre-approved absence forms will be accepted during this time

There will be another round of testing, End of Year (EYO) Assessments will be given April 13 - May 15.  When specific dates are set, we will communicate those to you.
To assist parents in understanding the upcoming PARCC Assessments, we have scheduled an information night.
Tuesday, February 3, 2015
6-7pm
SLE Science Lab
We will go over:
  • what the specific assessments include
  • how PARCC differs from previously given OAA tests
  • how tests will be administered
  • what parents can do to help your child prepare
Please mark your calendar and we hope to see you there.

Hey parents!  In art class, our students are busy creating beautiful artworks.  These artworks are going to be used for the fundraiser program Art to Remember.  Student artworks can be printed on bags, coffee mugs, book marks etc.  All items purchased by students will help our school and art program raise money to buy art supplies. Order forms will be passed out in art class in early March.  Thanks for your support.
